The Day I (Barely) Survived Venice

Yesterday, I went to Venice.
I loved Venice. I loved the narrow streets and alleyways, the canals around every corner, the endless number of picture worthy bridges.
But unfortunately, it rained, the wind was gusty and powerful and the temperature was less than ideal.
Yes, I think I just survived a minor, day-long hurricane in Venice.
By the end of the day, the streets were littered with fallen soldiers, aka, broken umbrellas.
I even saw a pair of abandoned, soaked Uggs!
Those narrow streets I loved so much? Yeah, those became wind tunnels that nearly blew me over whenever we were close to the sea. My umbrella was blown inside out so many times that I finally gave up and let the rain soak my non-waterproof coat.
Note to self: My next coat purchase should be warm, waterproof, and black so it goes with everything.
With that in mind, it says a lot about a city if it's still incredibly charming in the windiest, rainiest of days.
I had heard sub-par reviews of this unique place before I had gone, and despite the fact that I was freezing and wet, my expectations were exceeded, and I can't wait to go back.
One of the many broken umbrellas we saw...
